Hull Mold Mark

One aspect of the CR-914 you will first have to address is the Hull mold mark. This Mark is a product of the hull mold that produces the one piece Hull/Deck.

There are two solutions to fixing this mark.
1. Take a sanding block and sand it out. Recent improvement to the hull thickness allows this method, but take care to test the thickness of the hull and not let the hull get too thin.
2. The other solution is to fair this area with Evercoat Formula 27 (a Bondo type filler). I prefer this filler over Bondo because it is not as prone to absorbing water and is gray/white in color. Another filler is the West System/Micro balloon mix used for the keel fillet. The primary drawback to west system is that it is very hard and  more difficult to fair properly

Take your time, rough sand the area and don't forget to wipe with alcohol to remove any mold release or oil on the hull. Mask the deck and prime the entire hul. Sand and then paint the hull with a HARD paint. I use an Epoxy paint, Hobby Poxy or Polypoxy  a marine paint by Pettit, but Automotive Enamel is also a good  solution.

Note: This flaw is different on every boat. Ranging from very slight to quite large but does not weaken the hull in anyway, it is just a bit of a pain in the neck to repair
