CR-914 Y2K Nationals

CBMRA has agreed to host the 2000 Nationals and are expecting 40-50 competitors. The date is set for Nov. 4th & 5th so as not to conflict with area big boat racing. The club is very aware that the “big boat” season is in full swing during September and October. CBMRA is looking for members to assist in the planning of the Nationals if you are interested in helping please contact Ernest and let him know how you can help. We need help in setting courses, housing competitors, judging, registration, scoring and more. The club is planning to draw on as many resources possible available through club membership. We will be looking for a location to host dinner on Saturday night. Dinner may be hosted at a restaurant or catered depending on our sailing location. C.B.M.R.A. is also looking for regatta sponsors. Areas of possible sponsorship include drink sponsors, food/restaurant as well as a give away sponsor such as a T-shirt.

1999 CR-914 Nationals

A group of CBMRA members attended the 1999 Nationals in Larchmont, NY. This group consisted of Ernest Freeland, Dave Ramos, Tim Mangus, Bucky Buchanan and Mark Zuhmerlian. Larchmont put on a great event they had Sam Adams and Mt. Gay as drink sponsors Sam Adams donated hats and Mt. Gay T-shirts all customized for the CR-914 Nationals.

UK Sailmakers donated ditty bags and all of the out of town competitors received CR-914 National picture frames. The CBMRA members came away from the Nationals very impressed and with a lot of ideas for our own Nationals.

Commodores Message

Happy New Year! I hope this newsletter finds you well and excited for another year of CR-914 sailing. I am happy to report that the CR-914 and its radio is a Y2K compliant device so no excuses come out sailing with us! CR-914 sailing is a fun and competitive activity with lots of socializing and great sailing. This Newsletter is the first of several hopefully for the New Year. My goal is to keep all of our members who do not have e-mail updated with printed newsletters several times a year. Electronic copies of the newsletter will be available in the CBMRA section of the www.rcyachts.com  web-site and will be e-mailed to club members as well. I hope to grow membership, increase the social scene of the club through more gatherings and cookouts throughout the year! If you have any ideas for activities or events you would like to see let me know and we will see what we can do. 2000 is going to be an exciting year for us. - Ernest
