2006 NATIONAL Hosted by
Oct. 20-22 A full report about the regatta is being written by Regatta Chairman Doug McKerrow and will be posted here as soon as it is received, along with pictures taken at the event. All that we have available so far is the following printout of the final results in the Gold and Silver Fleets. This year's Nationals, hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club, was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Regatta Chairman Doug McKerrow and his outstanding team of volunteers from the host club and its CR 914 fleet. Saturday greeted the 25 entries with perfect weather for the HMS qualifying series, and the 17 knot winds on Sunday provided an excellent test of skill and boat preparation for the finals that day. Chuck Luscomb from Deep River, CT survived several breakdowns and radio failures to win four of the 14 races and become the new national champion by an 11 point margin over past-champion Dave Ramos from Stevensville, MD. Gregg Morton from the host club placed third in the Gold Fleet. Phil Adams from Cambria, CA won the Masters Division, while Brian Jobson from Wolcott, CT took first place in the Silver Fleet.
