Sixth Annual Clovelly's Cow Pond Regatta A few clouds and cool, light breezes didn't stop 19 enthusiastic sailors from competing in the 6th annual Clovelly Cow Pond Regatta. With a newly expanded dock, a tent, a port-a-potty, 12 large hoagies, oodles of snacks, gobs of candy, a firepit and coolers of drinks, we could have spent the entire weekend there. For 2006, the event was appropriately renamed the Goose Poop Regatta. No explanation needed. But I can assure you by Sunday morning, the Canadian geese had happily reclaimed their turf.
.
We got in a total of 11 races, including the final "Volvo
Around-the-Pond" Race won by Peter Chance. The winds were light,
variable and came out of every direction, sometimes simultaneously. The
competition was fierce (behind Ramos, of course), with only 2 points
separating 2nd and 3rd place. We had several new sailors from the St.
Michaels fleet and many familiar ones from Chestertown, Middletown,
Mantoloking, Philadelphia and Annapolis.
.
Kudos to Dave Ramos and Graham Mattonen for an endless supply of crystals and
their assistance during race prep and breakdowns. And of course to Tony and
Donna Gibbons-Neff for so generously hosting this family event.

Hope to see all of you in 2007. For next year, we'll add a few races for our
youngest sailors (5 and older), so get them out on the water soon!
